Oh my. I am sooo wiped from field school, and it is only 1/3rd over! Hopefully there will be a little more free time next week, but I'm not holding my breath. I ended up skipping two of my runs this week and missing my speed training. Hopefully it won't effect my goals for the Ottawa half, I guess we'll see.
So I'm at school right now... on a saturday... doing work. It has been over a year since that has happened. Grrr... Oh well, I get a full credit for it, so really it isn't THAT bad. I'm having super disjointed thoughts, I think it is time for me to go home and have a nappy nap.
Oh, and for those of you who know our great friend of the westcoast, you might want to click the link on the side of my blog ;). KB, I've been thinking of ya lots with the field school, lots of fond and not so fond memories of 458 spring to mind (definitely don't miss the 3 am/4 am nights, but definitely do miss the great lab group :)). Right now I'm working on my stratigraphy map... it looks oddly familiar :).

BRRRRRRRR!
Well, I certainly wasn't dressed right for that!
First day of field school is over, and I was COLD! At one point in time, I actually cried because I was so miserable. I think I was pre-hypothermic - My lips were v. dark and everything. There is about half an hour that is kind of fuzzy in my memory. I'm kind of pissed off at the TAs and lab instructor. I think they should have been paying attention to how people were doing. I obviously couldn't tell what colour my lips were, but they would have been able to.
Oh well, I'm finally warmed up (4 hours later), so I guess it is okay. Tomorrow only outside at lunch to finish up our slug test. Definitely going to bring more layers and extra clothes tomorrow.

Ask, and you shall recieve...
So I haven't been up to much in the past week - Hence the lack of posting
I did get my assignment 2 done for my 774 course. Very exciting eh? On Wednesday we (burger and I) were going to start assignment 3, but decided not to because we were both taking off Thursday and Friday to rest and relax before field school starts tomorrow. Unlike burger though, I fully enjoyed my rest :)
Thursday I made up my invitations for Danielles shower, I'll hopefully get most of them out tomorrow. Jen also came up and we went out for lunch... I miss those girls. On Friday I got my hair cut (and now I have real full on bangs :O), and went to Wayne's Comprehensive but was halfway falling asleep during it.
Yesterday EK and I decided to go ahead and sign up for the waterloo half marathon (it was this morning) and so I rested most of the day and started getting my apartment into shape for my billeter.
Today at the race - Not full out, not tapered, hilly course - 2:05 - 8 minute PR - Go me! Now I am exhausted! My Billeter called this afternoon, she is stuck doing work in Sudbury so won't be getting here until tomorrow. meh. Oh well, More time for me to get ready for her (ie. finish cleaning my apartment :)).

Especially if I sell my old bike... can probably get $400 for it...
Okay, enough drooling laura.
I'm still sick, but feeling MUCH better that yesterday. I'm actually in at school today and will hopefully get a stack of the assignments marked. (fingers crossed).
Have a great weekend all!

Sicker .... :(
I went home yesterday at like 1:30 planning on having a good long nap and getting up and doing stuff in the evening... reading ahead in 774, marking, cleaning my apartment. instead, I ended up spending more than 2 hours running around, getting an ethernet card to try in my computer (note: I don't have an ethernet card, my cable jack is built into the mother board - ie. I'll have to take it into computer xs sometime to get it fixed... I wonder if I can take it on the bus...). I also talked to my sister that is in Africa on the phone... it was her birthday yesterday, the big 2-8. Looks like her extension won't be going through, so I have to talk to my supervisor about taking some time off at the end of august to go an visit her. So after all that, I didn't get to sleep until after 4 and slept till 5:30. I ate dinner, cleaned up a bit and watched amazing race... no energy to do anything else.
When I went to bed, I couldn't fall asleep again. I'm blaming the medicine this time... apparently DM can keep you awake? So this morning, I'm more sick... the cough has turned into a cold. I've got another massage (don't be jealous, it is extremely painfull!) this morning, and I think I'll go home again in the afternoon, unless I'm feeling significantly better.

St. Ralph
If any of you have the opportunity to see this movie you totally should. It is very funny and a good inspirational movie (plus it is Canadian). It is about a kid in the 1950's whose father died in World War 2 and his mother is sick and in a coma. He is told it will take a miracle for her to get out of her coma. So he decides that if he wins the Boston Marathon that it will be the miracle his mother needs. It is a very cute movie. Last night EK and I saw it at the Princess with people from the Running room. After the movie was over they had a suprise guest. It was the actor that played the kid in the movie. Apparently he is from Cambridge.

In other news I have a cought this morning :( I am at school now, but will be heading home probably early after lunch taking my marking with me. I may get to the gym this afternoon depending on how my throat is feeling, don't know.

Yay!
my 774 project got cancelled :D
I'm v. excited.
Not much new in my life. I went biking with Burger on Saturday, it was fun, except for about 2-3 kms where her bike was doing weird things.
Then went to Keely's in K-town and we had a great time. I bought a new shirt for the bar. It is black and has some sequenes (I have no clue how to spell that word!) on it.
Back to waterloo and finishing up these assignments. Oh, and Erasmo's defence is this morning, so we are going to that too!

Ugh.
Greasy Brittish Pub Fair... tastes good, but not so nice the day after. And I have leftovers.
Last night I made Toad in the Hole (EK had never had it, so I had her down for dinner). For those of you who don't have british roots, it is kind of a caserole, but not really. It has sausages (the english breakfast kind) on the bottom and yorkshire pudding (not real pudding, a kind of bun type thing) on top. It is super yummy, but I can feel my arteries clogging already, I have the rest packed for my lunch today, taking advantage of my off running/break day to eat greasy food. I think I'm going to freeze the left over sausage for a later date, I can't handle that much!!!
Nothing else new, at all. My internet was working for like half an hour when I got home last night, but then stopped. After dinner I should have filled out another form, but I didn't have the energy required (was v. tired after dinner, likely due to grease and tuckered out from being up so early). Ended up sleeping 9 hours last night!

Am I a B*tch???
So I just found out that one of the other grad students got NSERC. I think that for most people, I would be happy for them, but not really this person. I've taken a few classes with them, and I think that they are a huge brain leech and can't think anything through on their own. Am I being a super-b*tch here? Maybe I'm just jealous, I don't know, I just think that there are other people more deserving than this person (say EK).
Oh well, my complaining is over.
The weekend went well, C-dub and I had a good visit and got some relaxin' time in. Now it is the nose back to the grind stone trying to make some headway in 774. I've got most of Q6 of assignment 1 done, but my explicit solution isn't working :( oh well.

Pope...
Okay, I don't want the following to sound anti-catholic, or anti-christianity, but I am TIRED of hearing about the pope every 5 minutes. Yes, he is old, yes he is dying, but give it up already!
They were talking about NOTHING else for an hour this morning on TV, an Hour!!! I mean seriously, I'm sure there are more important things going on in the world today then him dying. How about you talk about the AIDS epedemic in Africa that he helped to create by discouraging the use of condoms by scaring unwitting people into thinking they will go to Hell. Yes, it is okay to let a 20 year old mother die from AIDS leaving small children parentless in a harsh climate, but using a condom is bad? screwed up logic in my opinion.
Okay, so that is my rant from a Pro-Choice, pro-birth control, pro-gay marriage person. Am I going to Hell now, or after I die?
