Ugh...

Well, I'm back. I got into wloo around 4 yesterday and bummed around the house and didn't have the energy to do any work.

I'll give a quick summary of my life for the last 10 days

Feb. 18th - rush like crazy trying to get everything ready finally get out the door like 15 minutes late and had a chance to breathe and relax. if I have good traffic, I should get to my dad's girlfriend's house in Toronto shortly after five. I take out my cell to call my dad and realize my battery is dead. ugh, oh well, hopefully won't be an issue. So there was a massive pile up on highway 8 and the traffic was backed way up. Yep, took me a full hour to get down to the 401! so at this time, I'm supposed to be at my dad's girlfriends in like 10-15 minutes. totally not happening. I pullover at the service centre and call... apparently there was another massive pileup between her house and the airport, so it is good thing that I call. We both leave immediately (4:55) to go to the airport (my flight is supposed to take off at 7:00). I luckily had pretty clear sailing to the airport from there and got there at like 5:45 only to find out my plane was delayed an hour and a half!!! my dad comes and picks up the car... I get into edmonton at 10:40 pm local time...

Feb. 19th - At NC's. We went into Red Deer, and I got the grand tour. We had a good chance to chat and catch up (That was great!) and when NC went to work, I did my long run of the week. I think I did like 2 or 3 loops of Black Falds!!!

Feb. 20th - go to edmonton, watch the movie Hitch and fly to Vancouver... again, my flight is delayed by 30 minutes, so I was a little late arriving. Met KB and AL at the airport and went for dinner at Milestones (mmmm... belinis!).

Feb. 21st - Go downtown with Kel. tour Stanley Park and go shopping on Robson. Go for a run with Kel (ugh, that hill was hard!) and watched a Sharks Tale (pretty good, but not excellent).

Feb. 22nd - Dad picks me up on the way to Whistler and go for a run once up there. we also went to this website, it is super cool. http://www.pixyland.org/peterpan/

Feb. 23rd - Ski at whistler :)
Feb. 24th - Aunt is feeling unwell, so help with dinner and go for another run
Feb. 25th - ski at whistler again :) Em came this time.
Feb. 26th - Grey hound back to Vancouver... third time on public transit and... again it is late!!! Hang out with Kel in the afternoon and go for dinner with AL and KB. Didn't get to visit with AL long, but was nice. His work are slave drivers. Go out with Kel, Em and Em's friend on Saturday night, meant to go dancing, but all the places had like 2 hour lines (at 10:15!!!). So we ended up just going to a restaurant/pub. Got home to Kels at 2:30
Feb. 27th - Up at 4 (yep, that is 1.5 hours sleep) to go to the airport for my flight... again... late! only 15 minutes this time, and they delayed it to make sure everyone got on. They had issues with cancellations the night before so the line up was crazy to get my boarding pass an my luggage checked. Way too stressfull for 5 am. Got into Toronto at 1:30 and had to wait close to an hour for my luggage. Went home and relaxed last night.

This morning I got up super early again (6 am - but 3 am in Vancouver where half my body still thinks I am) to go for my weekly long run with Erika. We did 9.5 or so. And that brings me to now. I'm at school and very tired. I'm going to stay until 3 or so and go home for a nap and work on my marking. Way too much to get done this week :(

Leaving today for a week...

Just trying to get as much work done before I go as possible. my Paper for CSCE is due today, it so is not getting done, however, I will have a very preliminary rough draft to give to Thomson by three today. I'll have to explain that there has been NO editing!!! Right now I am just sneaking onto my 6th page, but I still need to insert my figures (stupid tech plot isn't working for me) and write some more in the results section + intro and conclusions. ACK!

So only lik 11 hours until I see NC :) and only 2 days and 8 hours until I see KB and AL! yay!

Last Problem hopefully fixed.

I love it when you have days where everything seems to go right for you. With the last two weeks of staring at a computer, I DESERVE today.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Model is working!!!! (there are still a few little things wrong, but I'm not worrying about them for now. Just trying to get results so that I can start writing this paper. We have decided to just show by modelling that the source zone will deplete, so what if when I run it for too long I end up with (-)ve mass...

Ugh, also feel like crap...

I don't know why, but I want to go back to bed and sleep all day. I may go home and sleep this afternoon and work on my model this evening. I was planning on this to start with but then I remembered that I won't get any work done on my model this morning since we are working on 774. yay.

Okay, so last night I did basically nothing. got my laundry done and did a few errands. Oh yeah, and I used QCs computer to register for the National Capital Half Marathon, so I am officially committed to doing it now.

Another Valentines day gone

And an uneventful one at that. Part of me always hopes for a secret admirer, but it never really pans out (at all). So my day yesterday was boring. worked on my model till 3:30, went to the gym, the out for dinner. Was planning on working on my model after dinner, but I had no new brain waves about what could be wrong, so I ended up going home and relaxing a bit before bed time. There don't seem to be enough hours in the day right now.

So that brings us to this morning. I'm still waiting to here if I was granted the extension I requested for my paper, since otherwise it isn't getting done. I need to figure out what is going on with my model, but I have no clue how to do it. Maybe I'll just take out anthracene and see if that makes it work (it reacts very quickly on a very small mass and may be causing all my problems.... not sure though.)

Sh*t

Worst TA ever. I missed my class again this morning. Bob wanted to switch my time from Thursday to Monday and I keep forgetting that I am supposed to be there on Monday morning. So I wasn't there. I was talking to my supervisor instead. I feel so incredibly bad right now!!!!!!

Tired! I think my lack of sleep is starting to catch up to me...

I was planning on doing a lot of school work yesterday but after the "long run" (hardly long at 7km) all my energy was drained. I just ended up reading and sleeping most of the afternoon away. I finally sat down to do some school work at like 5 or 6 and my internet was down again (grr) and I realized I didn't have the files I needed at home. I had to talk to like 10 people on the phone last night, so I couldn't go into school to do work here (mind you I probably wouldn't have had the energy). So I stayed home and was in at school (relatively) early this morning and hopefully I'll have something to show my supervisor after lunch. I don't want to have to tell hime that it will actually be physically impossible for me to have results by this friday.

So that brings us to today, valentines day, the bane of single people's existance. To be honest, I was trying to grasp the day with open arms this year and even made heart shaped cookies for the occasion, but I'm just not feeling it today. I think I will be too busy to even care today too.

Plan of Attack:
8:30-10:30 Work, on model
10:30-11:30 583 lecture/tutorial
11:30-1:00 work on model
1:00-1:30 meet with supervisor
1:30-3:30 work on model
3:30-5:00 go to gym
5:30-7:00 goodbye dinner for post doc
7:00-9:00 work on model

yay. I love school.

like the new comment format

Makes it pretty easy to see what is being posted.

So life in the 'loo is pretty hectic for me right now. My model still isn't working properly, I noticed late yesterday night that my Mass is depleting way too quickly. I tried making my time step smaller, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. So that is the bug that I get to figure out today. Hopefully that will be the last one!

Last night was the running room clinic, night no. 3. It was pretty good, and EK and I kept up with most of the speedsters. I think it was like 4.7 km in 28 minutes which is faster than normal run pace, but slower than 5K pace. Probably a good tempo run pace. It was a pretty good run all in all. We also watched CSI which was a pretty good episode, and then it was time to put my sleepy self to bed (while QC and EK made mention of heading back to school to finish an assignment :O). I also finished my festive project.

So that brings us to today! I get to see exaggerator, c-dub and MM tonight. getting excited! It is weird when you go from seeing someone every day to maybe once a month. I miss those guys (and NC too!!!!!)

Not really anything new

Last night I went to the gym and did my weights. My arms are starting to get pretty toned, but I'm starting to worry that the muscle is going to get too big! I'm up to 15x15 on the bicep curls :O.

I also ran a few errands and did some festive baking. Good news is that Jenny did not try and attack me last night, so I am taking that as a positive sign. Does anyone know where I could find a spray bottle?

Amazing race finale...

Overall 3 stars. I was disappointed with the outcome, but it means C-dub won her pool at work, so there is a bright side. I laughed when they were talking about Kris and Jon who were on there way down the gondola "They are probably making out by now". I thought it was pretty funny. Kendra was so dumb when eating the pizza. "Oh, I can't finish it, I'm going to throw up, it is too much!" That is because you are an anorexic model. Seriously, it wasn't that much food. Oh, and another thing that bugged me about them (something I've never talked about) is that they always called Adam and Rebecca "The little ones", like they were better than them because they were tall. Give me a break, at least they respected the different cultures that they came in contact with!!!

Okay, that is it for my b*tching. I'm in my office hours right now in the undergrad lab. it is sooooo loud in here, no wonder I never got any work done. Maybe I'll move my office hours back upstairs now that Hecras is over, at least I can get other work done now. (HECRAS isn't on the Grad lab computers, but EPANET and EPASWMM are...)

Chillin' in K/W

Last night I didn't do too much. I did my laundry and then went to run a few errands (including a getting a birthday present for a certain friend in B-town :)).

Yesterday before leaving school I got all my compile-time errors and warnings sorted out! yay! so my program is now compiling, I just have to spend the next few days debugging to make sure that I am getting numbers that make sense!!! I <3 Programming.

So Nothing else new to report I guess. Tonight is the season finale of Amazing Race. Yay!

Yay!!!!

Fortran works at school! Yay!

Another Semi-busy weekend for the record books

Friday - Practicing throwing a ball around, trip to the gym and my favorite show - What not to wear...
Saturday - Quick early morning trip to the Market, Flag Football tournament all day, we were second in b/co-ed, but we were co-ed and 1st was b, so we are trying to fandangle a prive out of campus rec since it wasn't really fair. Saturday night I rented Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I really liked it! It was kind of weird, but I thought the message was beautiful.
Sunday - Woke up early to go for my 7km "long run" with the running room, but decided not to go. it was -10 out, but the high for the day was +7C didn't make sense to go in the morning when it was supposed to be so nice! I ended up cleaning my apartment while waiting for the temperature to rise. At around 11:30 I went in my room to read for a bit and I ended up waking up 2 hours later! I talked to KB for a while on the phone and went for a run. Last night was the Joy of Marking. This memo was harder to mark than the first, but overall I think it went better, I wasn't getting as pissed off about referencing! Jenny kept of getting all cuddly and deciding it would be a good idea to lay on my marking. it was kind of cute, a marked improvement from the stalking she was doing earlier.

So that brings me to today. I woke up with the first signs of getting sick. My throat is scratching, my nose is stuffy, my eyes are watering and my muscles are aching. I came to school anyways, but I have a feeling I'll be going home before too long to crawl back into bed for a couple of hours. I can always work on my fortran from home between naps.

Have a great week everyone! C-dub and Exaggerator, I'm getting excited about seeing ya this weekend!

Bad Shoe News... :(

So the updates on my favorite running shoe series ever (the ones that keep me from injury and saw me through 4 triathlons, 1 half marathon and countless shorter races) is finally in stores. I tried them on last night when I was at the running room for my clinic and have put them on hold, I'm going back for them tonight. All sounds hunky dory right? well, looks like they made a pretty critical change to them which might not bode well for me. I have high arches but I overpronate which is not common (I pronate because of my knees, not my feet), so this years model has all the same stability, but they have decreased the arch support, so that may be bad news for me. I'm going to try them on the treadmill at the gym a few times so that I can return them if need be.

I just don't understand why they would change something so big? it is like it is whole new model of shoe. I am considering sending New Balance hate mail... well, not really hate mail, but certainly not happy mail :(

Ack! I did it!

I entered the lottery for the New York City Marathon. Now I just have to wait. The lottery draw will take place in mid-May which will give me plenty of time to train, and if need be, pick a new marathon if I don't get accepted. It was a major goal of mine to do a marathon before I turn 25, and well, that time is approaching relatively quickly... only 9.5 months away!

Not much else to report. Night 2 of the running room half marathon clinic is tonight. This week I will definitely run with them :)

Blah...

Very weird weather here in south-western ontario. The morning lows have been like -20C which is too cold for my wimpy self to go running in, and the daytime highs have been close to 0. What is with the temperature flucuations??? And to make weird even weirder each night they say it is going to go down to -9 and then it goes down WAY colder. So every morning my alarm is set for 6 am, just to have me wimp out and stay in bed "snoozing" another hour. An hour that could have been spent in REM sleep! I digress.

So last night I was nearly falling asleep on the couch, well, I did, waiting for the amazing race to come on. So this means I was asleep at 8:30 ??? I managed to wake up at 9 to watch the amazing race, which was a really good one. I was glad that Kris and John weren't last, and impressed by the little personal trainers (can't remember their names) that they weren't that far behind even thought they were yeilded... is the yeild actually an hour? So I think that bar any major mishaps (like taxi's or yeilds) that those will be the two teams to watch next week. Usually the last legs are in places were they speak english, so they shouldn't have much trouble with language.

Tonight I'm going to the gym to get in my run and my weights... what an exciting life I lead!!! I think I'm also going to tape that made for TV movie about the Crazy Canucks. It is on too late for my early-bird self, but maybe I'll get a chance to watch it this weekend.

Thats it!

My Lazy @ss

Well, yesterday anyways. I was at school until late and I had a number of things I had to do, notably: eat dinner, do my laundry, wash my dishes, and go grocery shopping. Lower down on the list of priorities was going to the gym... well, at around 7:15 I ditched that idea and decided to wake up early this morning and go then instead. It was too cold for my wimpy self to go running anyways, so it really wasn't that different. I'll go running this afternoon instead... it should be much more pleasant since it is sunny and supposed to get up to -1. I used to love the winter, but now not so much. I can't wait for the days to get longer so that even when I am up at 6:30 running it will be light out. I love longer days! how many more days of winter? too many to start counting.

As for other news, well, there really isn't any. I was getting bad results from my model run, but I think I have it figured out now. I'll go home this afternoon and try to compile it again from there. Hopefully my internet will be back up so I can get my graphs off of e-mail to compare my results with the actual results. You gotta love programing...
