A Burgerific Wedding

Just a quick post since I'm heading off to bed soon, but I just wanted to post quickly with some pictures from burgers big day. She'll have to tell the complete story since I just know the face value stuff.

The wedding was beautiful, and the butterflies were super cool. They would land on people, and I got a cool picture on one in burgers grandma's hair. A couple of minutes later she actually had two in her hair! The wedding went off without a hitch (as an observer, I'm sure burger might argue on that one) and the dinner was delish. The speaches were awesome with burgers mum and burger boy's brother (surprisingly) steeling the show. Very funny speeches. I'll post some of the wedding type photo's here, but I also have some cool non-wedding ones that I'll post this week on my photoblog.

one bad thing about my camera... takes too long to focus. As soon as she came into shot I pressed the button but the focus got confused I think.

Gen doing her reading...

At the end of the Ceremony, May I intoduce Burger and Burger boy!

Burger and Friends (AF was supposed to tell me if I was showing too much skin, but he was obviously slacking off on this job last night since I think he enjoyed looking at the skin while other people probably not so much.

Zzzzzzz...

For some reason I'm particularily tired these days. Perhaps I should be back on iron. who knows.

So this past week, what did I do? Good question :)

Friday - Went over to AFs apartment at night and we watched a movie. Hmm... trying to remember which movie it was. Right Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Weird movie, not entirely sure I liked it, but I do have to say that Johnny Depp was amazing in it like usual :)

Saturday - We did a bit of shopping, I finished buying Burger and Burger Boy's Wedding present and went picked up t a couple of CDs (New Sam Roberts and a Bob Marley Compilation thing). We later went to the Camera Store and I bought my new baby. The one, I posted last week - Nikon D70. It was expensive, but I love it :)

Sunday - we went for a longish bike ride together, I on my road bike and AF on his mountain bike. I'd ride ahead for a bit and cycle back to him. It was super windy and took a lot of effort, I did around 47 km on hills and in wind. We then headed over to AFs for the night

Monday - We took off the day sinc AF had an interview with for a job in Missisauga so we were there yesterday morning and then headed into Toronto for the afternoon. We went to MEC, wandered around, and went to the ROM. They have a LOT of stuff closed right now for renovations, but I think that we had both seen enough by the time we were done. Then it was back to the Loo last night and I seriously passed out for a good solid 9 hours. I feel like I could easily fall back asleep now, but I'm back at school today and must be productive.

So things to Note:
1) my Photoblog has one picture from this weekend posted right now, from playing around with my new camera. I'll have more posts this week with other stuff from this weekend so you can check out how my knew camera looks. It is AWESOME! I love it :)
2) AFs Job interview in missisauga. Yep, that is causing a lot of problems right with logistical crap. a) I'm moving into his apartment in Kitchener at the end of September and have already gotten rid of my apartment, b) Arash doesn't have his drivers licence, c) there is no easy way to commute on transit to Missisauga from waterloo, d) if Arash gets the job, he has to give 2 months notice to his current apartment building to move out. Man, this is just a messy situation. I don't want to even think about it right now. (Anyone know someone who commutes to the Saug everyday from KW that can give my Boy a ride???)

Another week another post

So what is going on in Laura Land? Not much to be honest. What was that the Nej was saying about nothing exciting in singledom. Well, nothing exciting in coupledom for me these days ;)

So last week...
Friday - Went for my usual Friday ride with PS, shorter than normal though since it was a "cutback week". In the evening I went over to AFs apartment and we got ready for his mum's visit to town. We went grocery shopping, had dinner, and I started preparing food for the weekend while AF finished cleaning his apartment. I must say, by the time we were done, the place was spotless.

Saturday - We picked up his mum and aunt at the bus station had a nice long lunch. In the afternoon we went out to st. jacobs to stroll around and had a quick tour of the campus (for his Aunt's sake, AF's mum worked on campus for about a year when they were still pretty new in Canada). We went to the maharaja for dinner (yummers!) and went out to the flying dog for about an hour at night to give his aunt the full Canadian experiance. I hope she wasn't too shocked by anything she saw, all in all people were pretty tame. We left by 12:15 though, so it could have gotten worse later at night.

Sunday - We all had breakfast together and I went out shopping for a bit with his mum and aunt while AF slept some more (he sleeps a lot, damn lazy boy, and I do realize you might be reading this ;)). We had lunch and it was time to head back to the bus station. Not too much exciting for the weekend, but it was nice anyways.

Monday - I worked from home after getting my car fixed. It had a leaky exhaust pipe and the shop was able to cut out the bad peice and weld in a new bit for $202 including taxes. I was putting it off for a long time since the dealership said $1300 and I was afraid of the cost, now that just seems silly to me :)

Tuesday - hmmm... not much yesterday. I was at school late so by the time I got home it was just regular type stuff.

Wednesday - today. Hmm... nothing so far. My legs are sore though, like muscle sore. It actually feels like it did a day or two after my marathon, well, my quads anways, not the rest of my legs, I can't for the life of me figure out why they hurt this way. Last week consisted of 2 runs (short, 6 km) one easy shmeasy swim where I did mostly pull and a shorter than normal bike ride but monday after my bike ride my legs were just killing me (did around 40 minutes total on my trainer since I kept getting interrupted). I can't figure out what is going on :(.

And that is it. Oh, and I decided that I'm going to get this :)

Mid August already?!?

Where the heck did the summer go?

Okay, so I guess it has been over a week since I last updated sorry gals? I just don't have the need to update when nothing too exciting is going on in my life. First a quick recap of my week.

Last Wednesday - Nothing? can't remember what I didn
Thruday - Ditto
Friday - AF and I went to a party for one of his friends taht was finishing her PhD. It was pretty goodtimes.
Saturday - we went for a mountain bike and then headed into TO to his mums place
Sunday - we went to the beach with his aunt and mum. It's amazing how quickly his aunt adjusted to Canada and had no problem walking around all day in her bikini. Note: in Iran, the womens beaches are blocked off with dividers from the main beach and the dividers actually go like 100-200 m into the water to keep the men and women separate. At night we drove back to Waterloo
Monday - Ultimate lazy day we slept in, watched a movie and talked. REally, nothing exciting.

This week has been more of nothing, back at school and what not. The only exciting thing to report is that I have been in contact with the person I know at dillon and she says that my resume is impressive and is giving me hints on what to change and helping me with my cover letter. Good stuff :)

Other stuff - So for some reason I'm starting to think about marathons again. I think I might do another one next fall. Originally I thought I'd wait at least 5 years before doing another one, but in hindsight I really truly enjoyed my long runs last fall. Crazy, I know! I guess I'll wait and see how the next few months go. Anyone up to doing a marathon with me? Please?

Damn it's hot!

Wow, yesterday we reached the highest humidex I ever remember seeing. It topped out around 44.7C. Yuck. Today, the air temperature is supposed to get up to 36C which will be the highest temperature ever recored in Southern Ontario. Yikes! Wouldn't be surprised if there humidex approached 50. Ugh. (Last night I drove in my car for about 15 minutes, when I got out of the car, my glasses fogged up, that is the first time this has ever happened to me in the summer. Wierd.

Okay, now onto the regularly scheduled post.

Friday I palnned to work from home, but if I'm honest, I'd let you know that I didn't do too much. I did a long workout and got ready to go out for the weekend. AF and I went camping on Friday night with one of his friends and we rock climed outside Friday evening. We were supposed to climb again on Saturday morning/afternoon but his friend was too hungover. instead we just took our time and packed up our stuff to head to Toronto for the rest of the weekend.

AFs other aunt is here right now from Tehran, so we visited and did a couple of errand type things and generally had a relaxing weekend. Sunday night we headed back to the loo and that was that.

Yesterday I worked from home for the day and got some progress made I'm now running my model again (well, doing the column calibration) and it is going a little slowly. Oh well, I guess that happens. Stay Cool Dudes and Dudettes!

Quiet place

The school that is. No one is around and everyone is on holidays. So it is pretty quiet in here these days.

Weekend Recap
Friday - I went for a bike ride with PS in the afternoon and it felt good. I'm getting stronger during these long bike rides and I am able to ride longer and faster than I used to be able to. We did 56 km averageing over 25km/hour not super speedy, but good for me considering the distance. One thing though, is that it is mighty uncomfy in my saddle that long. I need to do something about that. We then (AF and I) drove to B-ville.

Saturday - We were planning on going to the beach but woke up to rain and cool temps. No beach for us after all. We ended up heading into town and went to the bike store. AF bought a new bike (he's been looking for a while) and ended up getting a fantastic deal on a Norco mountain bike - Reg. $900, got it for $700 including tax which would be around $620+tax so around $280 off (it was last years model and the guy just wanted to clear it). I got a new bike saddle as well. We rented two movies (Syriana and Match point), and headed back to my Dad's

Sunday - Lots of visiting. Danielle and her family came over for lunch so we got to see the new baby and play with Maddy for a while. I dunked her underwater which she didn't like, but didn't stay mad at me for too long. I'm a firm believer of "dunk early and dunk often" when it comes to swimming and children. The more you do it, the less afraid they will be. In the evening we packed into the car and headed off to Sarah and Wes's where we had dinner and visited for a few hours before going back to belleville. I got to feel the baby kick which was pretty cool.

Monday - We lazed around at my dads for most of the day and went for a bike ride to test out AFs new wheels (awesome!). Around 1 when eating lunch we discussed what time we were going to leave and realized that unless we left then there was really no point in going for several more hours since we didn't want to contend with TO traffic. So more swimming and lazy around ensued. We got back to the Loo at around 8 pm. Very tired, and perhaps a little too relaxed to be working the next day. When I got back to my apartment Jenny was all lovey dovey and curled up in my lap (a rarity) for like 40 minutes while I talked to KB on the phone. Good talking to you chicky (if you are reading!).

Tuesday - I ended up sleeping in to 8:45 (remember, too relaxed to be working!) and decided to work from home since I could start right away instead of having to head into school and do those pesky things like getting dressed.

So that is what I've been up to. In other dialogue.

Tour De France. Yes Niki, I was watching again this year and I have to say. Stellar viewing all around. I love floyde and I'm so glad he won. It'll be interesting to see what happens after his hip surgery whether he is able to get back to this level again. I hope no one dares put that astricks beside his name because the big contenders weren't there. That guy showed guts, determination, and sheer passion for the sport to win the race and that should be enough.

My Photoblog. I updated again last night in hopes to inspire myself again. I'm looking at new cameras tonight. I've been wanting a digital SLR camera for a while now, so I'm thinking of biting the bullet and purchasing it. These are the ones I'm looking at right now.

A week in the life of...

Well. No updates means nothing is going on. Literally nothing.

Last friday we had an Unshower for Burger which was pretty fun. It was nice to see all the girls in town again since it is a while since we all got together (last November???) Wow, that is a long time!

Saturday I went shopping while AF studied for his exam (for the C# course he's taking at Conestoga... the exam was last mondya, he got 90% :)). I got a new skirt, a sweater and somethings from the Bombay company. All were great deals, but none were the a) dress, and b) sandals I was looking for. Oops!

Sunday we went out to my aunts and uncles for the afternoon and lazed around by their pool. That was nice...

Now this week... hmm... nothing that I can think of really. I mean nothing....

This weekend we are going to b-ville. My dad is still on vacation, but we will laze around the pool, visit with D and the girls, and S&W. We're also going to go to the beach (Sandbanks) on Saturday, so it should be a good time.

An update you want

an update you'll get. My world is tilting at a strange angle these days and you'll see why later in this post.

Weekend: great weekend with the girls in peterborough, I'll post a full race report if people want it, but to be short and sweet I'll leave it like this... I woke up with a wonky tummy and ignored it forcing down food (weird for me!) and did the race (wanting to throw up on the bike, why don't I practice biking hard, like ever?) and still managed to start the run 1 minute faster than last year. Didn't last though as my running is sucking and finished 1:10 slower than last year, but I'm pretty happy with that. Entered in weight category and finished 3/6 so I got a nice little plaque, but was only 5 seconds off the gal in second (had I known she was registered in the weight category I wouldn't have let her pass. Oh well.)

Monday morning I woke up still feeling off, but more so. I stayed home all day and slept a good portion of the day. Not eating much since I was feeling quesy and gross (not to mention lower GI stuff to boot). Laura's World Tilt 1: my dad informed me last week that I would likely be getting money from Granny's will but didn't go into details about anything. I thought, cool, I'll be able to pay off my debt and start real world with a fresh slate. Not so. I found out monday morning that my Granny was, in fact, a millionaire. She so did not live like one, but I guess that would be WHY she was a millionaire (she would go to a grocery store because bananas were 0.19/pound instead of 0.29). So turns out, I'll be inheriting somewhere over $60,000 from her and now have to decide what I'm going to do with the money. Buying a house seems like a really good option right now.

Tuesday I wake up feeling slightly better, and head into school. Around 10 am I get an e-mail from my dad. Weird tilting incident 2: My dad is now engaged to be married. He is in Japan on vacation with Nora (well, Taiwan now), but has apparently been thinking about it for a while. I've had a couple of days to mull over this and I can honestly say that I don't feel any different. I'm upset and hurt by my father that he didn't talk to us about this first. I realize it is his decision, and I do want him to be happy, but honestly, I don't think I'm ready for this. My mum just passed away 3 years ago, and I am not ready for him to remarry again since I still miss my mum so much. It has been a couple of very upsetting days regarding this. I am going to send him an e-mail tonight and let him know how I feel.

Wednesday morning I woke up feeling gross again and tried going to school anyways. Was home again before noon and slept most of the day... again... No weird new news, just feeling like shit most of the day.

Brings us to today. Still nothing weird going on (other than my two weirdo peices of info from the beginning of the week). I'm feeling somewhat better, but am still getting weird bouts of stomache upset here and there. Hopefully it will be back to normal by tomorrow.

Anywho, I'm heading home now, so I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Feeling a little better this morning

It is amazing what a good night sleep can do to a girl. I calmed down a bit and then thought about this on my run this morning. I'm going to talk to marguarite (the grad secretary) about filling out an intent to graduate form so that I know what the dealio is. I might be able to work it so that I am out of my apartment at the end of september with no withdrawl fee. I just have to make sure it is okay if I submit my intent to graduate form a little on the early side. (My optimistic goal is to be done by the end of september, but more realistically it'll be the end of october, but for the month of october I'm not going to be in at school much anyways.)

So anywho, I talked to my dad last night about the possibility of AF and I moving in together. His response was pretty much what I thought he would say.

Dad: "Do you want my opinion or my permission?"
Me: "Well, I'm 25 years old, I don't need your permission, but I want your opinion"
Dad: "I can hardly say no since your mum and I lived together for 8 months before we were married"
Me: "So, what is your opinion?"
Dad: "I'm not going to say anything that'll influence your decision, you're 25 years old now, you've been making good decisions for a while so I'll just have to trust you to do what you think is right for you. I'm pretty sure that Jane would have agreed with me on this".

So that is where things stand right now. I don't mind being in my apartment a month longer, it isn't that big of a deal, but it would suck to be stuck in it for October since I want to be in belleville a lot then (with S&W's baby due then). Also, should anything happen with AF, it'll be okay since I'll only need to be in waterloo a couple of days a week, I can easily crash on other peoples couches for a day.
